Past Events

Get Involved, since its foundation, has hosted 21 scientific conferences and educational seminars that had an overall participation of more than 3,100 university students and graduates from 57 university institutions and 125 departments from Greece and abroad. These scientific events ranged from scientific seminars covering specific topics, and educational seminars, to interactive conferences where the participants were in the center of their education and career days for university and high-school students.

In this section, we disclose all of our physical and virtual events that aimed to promote Financial Education and Literacy, by informing and educating our audience on the contemporary economic issues of the Eurozone.

1st ECB Simulation Conference

Was the first initiative of Get Involved, held between 8 and 10 December 2017, which ran a pilot structure of the first European ECB Simulation Conference for university students. 2nd ECB Simulation Conference

In this conference, the first Training Day was held. Moreover, the structure of the Simulation was altered to its current format (two committees working in parallel). It was held between the 9th and 12th of November 2018 at the Headquarters of the National Bank of Greece (Training Day) and the Gallery of the Book (Committee meetings). 3rd ECB Simulation Conference

Was the first conference that was supported by the Bank of Greece and in which the study guides that analyze the topics of the Conference were established. It was held between 13th and 16th December 2019 at the Bank of Greece (Training Day) and the Nomiki Vivliothiki (Committee meetings). 4th ECB Simulation Conference

Was the first online Conference for which the internal platform Polymnia was developed. It is noteworthy that the findings of the Conference were included -via the ECB Listens programme- in the first revision of the ECB strategy after 18 years. 5th ECB Simulation Conference

It was the first Conference where the European Central Bank was represented in the processes of the Training Day. In the Conference topics, the participants had the opportunity to debate on the impact of ESG parameters in the financial system and the challenges of the digital economy in the Euro Area. 6th ECB Simulation Conference

Was the first live Conference since 2019. In this Conference, the Croatian Central Bank was represented by Governor Mr. Boris Vujčić, days before Croatia officially joined the Euro Area. In addition, the European Central Bank was represented by its Communication Principal Adviser Mr. Gabriel Glöckler. It was held from the 9th to 12th of December 2022, on the premises of the Bank of Greece (Training Day), Benaki Museum (Committee meetings), and Serafeio (Committee meetings). 7th ECB Simulation Conference

The 7th ECB Simulation Conference was held from the 15th to the 18th of December 2023, in the Amphitheater of Megaron Karatza of the National Bank of Greece (15/12) and the Troias Building of the Economic University of Athens (16-18/12). The European Central Bank was represented for a third consecutive year by its’ Communication Principal Adviser, Mr. Gabriel Glöckler. 8th ECB Simulation Conference

The 8th ECB Simulation Conference was held from the 22nd to the 25th of November 2024, in the Bank of Greece (22/11), the Troias Building of the Economic University of Athens (23-24/11), and the Small Stock Exchange of the National Bank of Greece (25/11). The European Central Bank was represented for a fourth consecutive year, while the European Economic and Social Committee participated for the first time. 

Crypto Day

Was the first scientific seminar of Get Involved with the aim to discuss the degree to which cryptocurrencies and the technology that accompanies them will affect the future of the global economy and markets. e-Democracy Project

Was the first online event of Get Involved in cooperation with the UN SDSN Youth Greece and the support of the UN Major Group for Children and Youth. The aim of the e-Democracy Project was to highlight the problems and the challenges that emerged due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in the fields of Economics, Political Science and Public Health. International Trade and Investment: Importance and Contemporary Challenges

This virtual scientific seminar was organized in cooperation with the university group Just In Case. The main discussion topics were the trends in the evolution of international economic law, the operation of the “due diligence defense” in the context of bids in the US legal market, the possible conflict between the international obligation to enforce an arbitral award and compliance with the EU ban on state aid. The course of Monetary Policy in the Eurozone during the pandemic

This virtual scientific seminar was organized in cooperation with the Finance Club UniPi. The main discussion topics were the Monetary Policy Transmission Mechanism, the interrelationship between Monetary and Fiscal Policy, and the monetary tools used to fight inflationary pressures in the context of the New Normal. Holistic Overview of Digital Currencies and Blockchain

This virtual scientific seminar was organized in cooperation with the university group AUEB Students’ Investment & Finance Club. The event’s objective was to present blockchain technology and its prospects, the Central Bank Backed Digital Currencies, and the European Parliament’s proposal for these issues. It was held on the 5th of March 2022.
