Vasilis Angelopoulos

As the co-founder of Get Involved, I lead an initiative that has influenced over 3,500 university students, empowering them through opportunities that bridge the gap between academic education and real-world challenges. The initiatives of Get Involved have garnered recognition from important organizations such as the Hellenic Bank Association, the Bank of Greece, the European Central Bank (ECB), and the corporate community in Greece, validating our efforts to foster a culture of social responsibility and professional excellence among the youth.

Our work at Get Involved is a reflection of my commitment to driving societal change and creating an active path of dialogue amongst university students, academia, institutions, and companies.

CO-FOUNDER

Anthony Efstathiadis


I am one of the co-founders of Get Involved with which I have participated in the planning and implementation of numerous initiatives that have impacted more than 3,000 university students and graduates. My role entails the coordination of the overall organization, the project management of our various and diverse initiatives, and the strategy formulation.

My work in Get Involved reflects my commitment to have an active role in empowering the youth, their “voices” and to strive to nurture a positive culture where young people can develop to their full potential.

VICE PRESIDENT

Petros Dimitropoulos


I’ve been part of Get Involved since April 2020 and one of the Vice Presidents since 2022. My main responsibilities include managing corporate communications as well as designing and implementing the organization’s strategy.
My participation in Get Involved reflects my commitment to empowering the voices of young people and promoting active dialogue between the market, the academic community, institutions, and youth, with the aim of advancing financial education, interdisciplinarity, and sustainable development.

Stavros Vletsos


I joined Get Involved in 2020 and I serve as a vice-president in 2022. My responsibilities include participating in the decision-making process and implementing the organisation’s strategy.

I am grateful to be part of Get Involved and contribute to connecting institutions, academia and the market with young people, spreading financial education and sustainable development through experiential learning and interdisciplinarity.

Maria Triantafyllopoulou

I joined Get Involved in April 2021, and since May 2023 I have been Vice President. My main responsibilities include coordinating the legal team and communications with our stakeholders. Moreover, I participate in the formulation and implementation of the organisation’s strategy.

My involvement in Get Involved and my interaction with its multi-faceted people reflects my commitment to developing initiatives that motivate young people to actively engage with economic science and remain active citizens at all times.

Iakovos Menis


I have been part of Get Involved since 2022 and one of the Vice Presidents since 2024. My role involves curating content, communicating with our audience and ensuring that our digital presence effectively reflects the organisation’s goals and values.

My involvement with Get Involved reflects my commitment to continuous development through creating a positive impact on society and the youth which drives our efforts.

Gikas A. Hardouvelis


Gikas A. Hardouvelis is Professor of Finance and Economics in the Department of Banking and Financial Management of the University of Piraeus in Greece and Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Greece. From June 2014 to January 2015 he served as the Minister of Finance of the Hellenic Republic.
Hardouvelis is First Vice Chair of the Board of Directors and member of the Executive Committee of the Foundation for Economic & Industrial Research, research fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research in London, member of the Academic Council of the Cyprus International Institute of Management, and a Trustee of Anatolia College, a non-profit primary, secondary and tertiary educational institution.
He holds a Ph.D. degree in Economics (1985) from the University of California, Berkeley, and M.Sc. & B.A. degrees in Applied Mathematics (1978) from Harvard University. He was Assistant Professor of Economics at Barnard College, Columbia University from 1983 to 1989, and Associate Professor and subsequently Full Professor of Finance in the School of Business of Rutgers University (1989-1993).
He served as Research Adviser & Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (1987-1993) and as Adviser to the Bank of Greece (1994-1995), where he also acted as Alternate to the Governor at the European Monetary Institute (precursor to the ECB).

Between 1996 and 2000 he held the post of Director of Strategic Planning & Research & Group Chief Economist of the National Bank of Greece, where he helped the bank transformation into a competitive institution and its expansion abroad: He led the first risk management unit in Greece and introduced VaR and asset-liability management models, he established and headed the Assets-Liabilities Management Department and the Investors Relations Department. Later from 2005 to 2014 he became the Group Chief Economist, Head of Economic Research and Member of the Executive Committee of Eurobank. In the past he has also been a member of the Academic Council of the Hellenic Banks Association (HBA), its President and the HBA EBF-EMAC representative.
Hardouvelis played a critical role in the establishment of the Athens Derivatives Exchange as an original member of its Board of Directors (1997-2000), and was a member of Board of Directors of National Securities, S.A. from 1995 to 2000. As a member of the Governing Council of the newly established University of Peloponnese (2000-2004), he was responsible for setting up its Economics Department.

Louka Katseli


Born in Athens,Greece April 20, 1952. Member of Hellenic Parliament since 2007. Former Minister of Economy, Competitiveness and Shipping (Oct 2009 – Sept 2010) and Former Minister for Labor and Social Security of the Hellenic Republic (Sept 2010-June 2011).
Recipient of Ph.D in Economics from Princeton University, MPA from the Woodrow Wilson School, Princeton University and B.A. in Economics from Smith College. Professor of Economics at University of Athens since 1987 and Chair of the Department from 1997 to 2001. Assistant and Associate Professor of Economics at Yale University (1977-1985).
Has served as Director of the OECD Development Centre in Paris (2003 – 2007), Special Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister of Greece (1993-1996), Advisor to the Prime Minister of Education (1996-97), Director General of Centre of Planning and Economic Research, Greece (1982-86).
Has held positions in many international committees including as Member, Rapporteur and Vice Chair of the United Nations Committee for Development Policy (1996-2003), Member of the Euro 50 Group, Member of the “Comité des Sages “, European Commission, DG V (1995-1997), Member of the EC Monetary Committee (1983-1985), Member of the EC Economic Policy Committee (1982-1984).
Fellow or Member to several international research institutes and councils, including the Centre for Economic Policy Research (1984-2003), the CEPS Economic Policy Group (1990-1992), Executive Committee EADI (2005-2011), Scientific Advisory Board of German Institute for Economic Research (DIW), Berlin (2005-2009), Research Fellow, IZA, Bonn (1999-2002).
Has published extensively in international and Greek academic journals in international trade and finance, economic development and labor migration.
Today, she is Professor Emeritus of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Chair of the National Bank of Greece in Cyprus, CEO of Rightholders Cooperative EDEM, Vice President of the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), member of the Independent Commission for Sustainable Equality, Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats – S&D, (Progressive Society) and business consultant for enterprises and organizations in Greece and Europe.

Konstantinos Drakos


Konstantinos Drakos is Professor at the Department of Accounting and Finance. Before that he was Assistant Professor (January 2009 – October 2012). Prior to joining AUEB he has also been employed as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics of the University of Patras (2003-2008) and as Lecturer at the Department of Economics of the University of Essex (2001-2002). After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Athens (Department of Economics), he was awarded a full scholarship by the Greek State Scholarships Foundation and completed an MSc and a Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Essex.

His research interests cover the fields of Applied Financial Economics and the Economics of Security. His current teaching responsibilities are Macroeconomic Theory, Finance for Banking, Finance for Insurance Organizations (undergraduate), and Quantitative Methods, and Risk Management (postgraduate).

Charikleia Apalagaki

Ms Charoula Apalagaki, since 2004, is Professor of Civil Procedural Law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (where she has been serving since 1984) and since 1-3-2017 Secretary General at the Hellenic Banking Association. She is also an Attorney and member of the Thessaloniki Bar Association. She has completed postgraduate studies in Greece and abroad, and has specialized in Civil Law, Civil Procedure and Banking Law. She has participated in many law drafting committees and international conferences, especially in Procedural and Banking Law issues. She also has judicial experience, in particular in the Supreme Courts. From 2001 to 2016, she worked at Piraeus Bank and was a member of its Board of Directors from 2006 to 28-2-2017.

She has authored several works (monographs, interpretations, studies) in Greek and English.

Spyros Blavoukos


Mr. Spyros Blavoukos is an Associate Professor at the Department of International and European Economic Studies (DIEES) of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He also holds the position of Director in the M.Sc. Program International Negotiations at AUEB.

He is the Director of the Jean Monnet Network on EU-UN Relations (EUNNET), which strengthens the cooperation of distinguished academics in the relations between the European Union and the United Nations. Moreover, Mr. Blavoukos is a Senior Research Fellow and Head of the ‘Ariane Condellis’ program at the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP).

Mr. Blavoukos holds a Ph.D. diploma from the University of Essex (2007) with his doctoral thesis being the process that formulated the Greek positions on the EU expansion and the participation of Greece in its negotiations. His M.A. is also in European Integration from the University of Essex (1999) and his bachelor’s from the Department of International and European Economic Studies (DIEES) of the AUEB.

Since 2018, he is a member of the Advisory Committee of the United Nations University – Institute on Comparative and Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS), while since 2021 he is a Scientific Associate at the Centre for Foreign Policy Planning, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

His scientific contribution has been published in numerous international journals, including the European Journal of Political Research, the Journal of European Integration, the Journal of Common Market Studies, and the British Journal of Politics and International Relations, while he is a Reviewer of more than 15 academic journals and publishing houses.

Aemilia Varfis


Aemilia is part of the initial team that pioneered shareholder response advisory services in Europe. She has been instrumental in introducing cross border shareholder response, corporate governance advisory and investor engagement services across the EMEA region, specifically in Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Russia, Spain, Turkey and the UK.

She has over 20 years multi-disciplinary industry experience, which spans across M&A transactions, capital increases, AGMs/EGMs, shareholder activism and corporate governance advisory. She has worked on over 450 cross-border assignments across the EMEA region and has led numerous high-profile M&A and shareholder response campaigns and proxy fights, successfully securing support for all her clients.

Before founding Velos Advisory, Aemilia held positions at D.F. King, ISS Corporate Solutions, Morrow-Sodali and Georgeson (UK & France). Her knowledge and track record in the industry is unparalleled.

She is also a member of the Advisory Board of Get Involved, a civil non-profit organisation, founded by students of Finance, Economics and Law, which focuses on the experiential education of students – inspired by the dual approach of learning academically and practically – by connecting students with market executives and experts.

Aemilia is a public speaker on matters involving investor engagement, governance advisory and shareholder activism.

SCIENTIFIC ASSOCIATE

Antonis Ballis


Antonis Ballis holds a Doctoral degree in Finance (2021) from Athens University of Economics and Business, a specialized Master’s degree in Applied Economics and Data Analysis (2016) from the University of Patras (2016), and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics (2014) from Athens University of Economics and Business. In 2018 he was awarded full funding for his doctoral research on cryptocurrencies, from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (IKY). His main research areas are Cryptocurrency/DEFI Economics, Behavioral Finance, and Financial Technology (FinTech).

SCIENTIFIC ASSOCIATE

Panteleimon K. Karamalis


Panteleimon Karamalis is a PhD Fellow at the UCD School of Economics in Ireland. He holds a MSc in Healthcare Administration from National School of Public Health in Athens (2018), a MSc in Banking and Financial Management from University of Piraeus (2017) and a BSc in Business Administration from Technological Educational Institute of Athens (2014). His research interests lie mainly in Monetary and Fiscal Policy, Banking, Wealth Inequality, and Health Economics. Since 2018 he has been a Teaching Assistant in Macroeconomics, Financial Economics, International Banking, and Econometrics at the UCD School of Economics.

He joined Get Involved because of their common belief about both the necessity of financial literacy in all students regardless of academic background, and the importance of scientific research by students and researchers who want to focus on specific research topics of economic science. All projects run by Get Involved, such as the ECB Simulation Conference and the scientific journal ‘Future Economic lab Journal’, orient themselves to the completion of these goals.

SCIENTIFIC ASSOCIATE – SECONDARY EDUCATION EXPERT

Evangelos Kantas


As the Scientific Associate at Get Involved, I leverage my extensive educational background to lead initiatives such as scientific conferences, seminars, and various projects. These efforts are dedicated to bridging the gap between institutions, markets, academia, and the youth in Greece, ensuring a holistic understanding of vital economic and educational issues. I am passionate about nurturing future leaders and proactive global citizens through innovative and contemporary educational strategies.
In addition to my role at Get Involved, I am a partner at Kantas School, where I am committed to upholding our tradition of educational excellence. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Certificate of Pedagogical and Teaching Competence, and I am currently enhancing my expertise with an MBA at Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB).
I firmly believe in the transformative power of education and am dedicated to contributing to a more knowledgeable and interconnected world.

Scientific Associate

Thanasis Dogramatzidis


Thanasis Dogramatzidis is an executive in the Financial Assets Management department at the Central Bank of Malta. Previously, he worked as a trader at the National Bank of Greece.

He holds an MSc in International and European Governance and Politics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens an MSc in Finance and Banking, and a BSc in Statistics, both from the Athens University of Economics and Business.

In 2024, Thanasis became a Scientific Associate at Get Involved, driven by his belief in the need to advance economic literacy and highlight contemporary economic issues, especially within the realm of monetary policy.

Vasiliki Koukoula


I joined Get Involved in 2019, I have progressed to the role of Senior Associate, and I currently am a member of the Legal Team. My participation in the team has provided me with valuable opportunities, and experiences, and it has given me the chance to work with numerous active youths. I have taken part in various initiatives, such as the ECB Simulation Conferences, and have had multiple responsibilities, including developing educational materials and participating in the communications team. I appreciate Get Involved’s commitment to fostering a collaborative environment that empowers young university students and professionals.

Maria Anastasopoulou

My name is Maria Anastasopoulou and I am an undergraduate student at the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. My participation in Get Involved started in 2023, whereas now I am an Associate and a member of the Legal Team, where I help handle the group’s legal issues, prepare legal educational materials and represent the group in the ECB Simulation Conference. Additionally, I participate in the stream for Student and Youth Organizations, where I develop my communication skills by interacting with external partners and other youth initiatives. I am also a member of the Scientific Team and contribute to the structuring of the group’s studies, such as the “ESG & Sustainability Youth Perspectives”, while simultaneously developing my research and writing skills.

The drive behind my involvement with the team is the exceptional academic and research level of my colleagues and the passion for the field. The shared values of mutual respect, the desire for progress and innovation, and continuous new’ goal setting, motivate me to contribute and join in a common evolutionary path.

I am particularly grateful for my participation in Get Involved, as it provides me the opportunity to significantly broaden my economic and legal knowledge, delve further into areas of interest and collaborate with some of the most active and accomplished young people, from whom I learn daily.

As an active member of Get Involved’s Associates, I am part of engaging and continuously evolving projects centered on strengthening financial literacy among young people in Greece and Europe. Moreover, by combining my studies in computer science, I am an integral part of Get Involved’s ongoing digital transformation journey.

My contributions to Get Involved reflect my commitment to supporting its ultimate goal of social contribution and raising awareness of financial literacy issues among youth.

I study at the Department of International and European Studies at the University of Piraeus and I joined the Get Involved team in June 2023.

As an Associate, I am a part of the Social Media department, in which my role includes the strategic planning and the content creation of the organization’s digital presence. In addition, I also participate in the Communications department, conducting communications with external partners. Moreover, I contribute to the preparation of the training materials for the European Central Bank Simulation Conference.
I was motivated to join Get Involved by my willingness to cooperate with young people with vision and goals, as well as to broaden my skills and knowledge on contemporary financial issues.

Watching the impact of Get Involved’s initiatives, especially on the youth community, it is a great pleasure to be part of this team, supporting with my contribution its initiatives and purpose.

Aikaterini Maria Grigoriou


My name is Aikaterini Maria Gregoriou and I am an undergraduate student in the Department of International and European Studies at the University of Piraeus. I joined the Get Involved team in February 2023. I am involved in the Communications department, taking on roles in the “Corporate Communications” team, where I collaborate on developing and maintaining relationships with partners and supporters of our initiatives, as well as in the “External Opportunities” team, where I seek potential collaborations and opportunities to promote our work. Additionally, I participate as a member of the scientific department, specifically in the team preparing the economic definitions index, contributing to content creation.

I believe that Get Involved represents an innovative initiative, created by individuals dedicated to making a difference. The opportunity to participate in this team led me to apply for membership, aiming to contribute to its work, enhance my skills, and showcase my abilities.

Apostolos Karasakalidis


Apostolos Karasakalidis has graduated from the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, is a certified Data Protection Officer (DPO), and works as a trainee lawyer in Thessaloniki having developed a special interest in Commercial Law.

He is an Associate at Get Involved since the summer of 2022 and a member of the legal team. He has participated in the writing and updating of the Study Guide for the 7th Simulation of the European Central Bank in which he also participated as a Central Banker. In addition, he oversees Get Involved’s compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the protection of its intellectual property.

Apostolos participates in Get Involved because he believes in the added value of cooperation among young scientists from different academic backgrounds. Furthermore, he is interested in the green transition of the EU economy and supports financial literacy’s expansion to young people.

Lila Kartali

My name is Lila Kartali and I am an undergraduate student in the Department of International and European Studies at the University of Piraeus. I joined the team in February 2024, and since then I have happily been part of the Corporate Communications, Social Media, External Opportunities, and Scientific team. The diversity of the topics I deal with in each department, as well as the collaboration and interaction with ambitious people, are a pleasant challenge for me.

For me, Get Involved is an opportunity to develop various skills and strengthen my knowledge background on sustainability and monetary policy issues. Moreover, the fact that it is a youth initiative, by people from different scientific fields collaborating for a common goal, is the reason why I want to be part of it.

Pavlos Tsiokas

As a participant of the 1st ECB Simulation Conference, I had the opportunity to familiarize myself with concepts related to Central Banks, their objectives, and the exercise of monetary policy.
The reason I decided to join the Get Involved team stemmed from the fact that I strive for learning, especially in areas concerning economic literacy. I was drawn to the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded individuals who share our shared culture and values.
As a new addition to the team, I am involved in drafting the Economic Term of the Week, which enjoys considerable success on Get Involved’s social media platforms. Furthermore, I am part of the team responsible for compiling the Study Guide, the pivotal manual for every delegate participating in the European Central Bank Simulation Conference.

Evdoxia Evangelia Grigoriou

My name is Evdoxia-Evangelia Grigoriou, I study in the Department of International and European Economic Studies at the Athens University of Economics and Business. I joined the Team in May of 2023. Since the beginning I have been part of the Social Media stream, evolving and learning with my peers. I have also participated in other departments as well, such as external communications, but my love for arts and media has truly won me. Some of the projects I have worked on include the ‘’Economic Term of the Week’’, the “ESG & Sustainability Youth Perspectives” questioner and the campaign for the new Sustainable Future Instagram and LinkedIn accounts, focusing on our Sustainability and ESG Initiatives. Our team is working on a daily basis on the engagement of GI in the Social Media landscape.

Working in Get Involved has taught me a lot. From skills that I will surely need to amazing friendships. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with such distinguished people. The reason I joined in the first place is because I took part in the 6th annual ECB Conference that we host and I was so intrigued and amazed by the people and the work of this organization, that I had to learn more. Safe to say that it was the best decision.

Alexandra Alexaki


My name is Alexaki Alexandra and I am an undergraduate student at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in the Department of Law. In January 2024 I became a member of the Get Involved Organisation in which I am a Junior Associate. As part of my duties, I am a member of the legal department, actively participating in the scientific department and corporate communications.

The pillars of its activity, the excellent organization of its projects, the culture, the goals, and the values ​​of the people who contribute to its continuous development were the motivations of my desire to be involved in developing and disseminating the work of Get Involved. My contribution to Get Involved reflects my commitment to helping to spread dialogue among young people and to communicate their perspectives in the academic and business world.
