Capital.gr: Findings of the Sustainable Future Initiatives 2024

As part of its activity in the field of ESG and sustainability since 2020, the youth nonprofit organization Get Involved undertook two significant initiatives in 2024: the research “ESG & Sustainability Youth Perspectives” and the educational seminar,  titled “Sustainable Future III: Powering the Future of Energy, Supply Chain, and Finance.”
The common objective of both initiatives, which are part of Get Involves’ “Sustainable Future” pillar of Get Involved, is to connect young people with the field of ESG and sustainability by providing quality education and information. These initiatives also aim to foster an active dialogue among institutions, companies, the academic community, and students, while highlighting the views and concerns of young people on these themes.
The “ESG & Sustainability Youth Perspectives” research provides valuable insights into the views and expectations of young people regarding the position and role of universities, businesses, and institutions on ESG and sustainability issues. It also highlights a significant gap between the existing and desired levels of education for young people on these topics. According to the research, 91.95% of the respondents want Greek universities to actively contribute to  their education in these fields, believing that this would significantly improve their professional prospects in a highly competitive and constantly evolving sector.
Taking the results of the research into account and aiming to actively contribute to the education of young people on sustainability and ESG issues, Get Involved organized the 3rd educational seminar under the “Sustainable Future” pillar, titled “Sustainable Future III: Powering the Future of Energy, Supply Chain, and Finance,” on April 18, under the auspices of the Municipality of Athens.
Distinguished representatives from institutions, the market, and the academic community, including representatives from the European Central Bank, the Bank of Greece, and the Hellenic Bank Association, presented a holistic view of the current reality and the existing challenges that ESG factors create in the fields of energy, supply chain, and finance. The event also highlighted the career opportunities for young people in the respective sectors, as well as the necessary knowledge to pursue these professional opportunities.
The event was supported by Motor Oil and the Hellenic Bank Association.
A summary of the discussion held during the event is available here, and the detailed findings of the research are available here.
Get Involved is a youth initiative that started in 2017, aiming to promote and expand economic education among young people and enhance interdisciplinarity. The group’s multidisciplinary approach includes the use of various means such as scientific seminars, educational materials, and newsletters, all dedicated to transferring knowledge from academia, institutions, and the market to young people, and enhancing the dialogue among stakeholders.
