Participation of Get Involved in the 1st Panhellenic Youth Forum in Komotini

Get Involved took part in the 1st Panhellenic Youth Forum, held from 5 to 8 December, 2025, in Komotini. The Forum was organised by the Municipality of Komotini within the framework of the Youth Think City Links programme, in collaboration with the Exagono Youth & Volunteering Centre and the Municipal Youth Council of Komotini.

The Forum served as a platform for dialogue and exchange of views, aiming to strengthen active youth participation, co-create youth-focused policy proposals, and promote structured dialogue, in line with the European Youth Goals.

Get Involved was represented by its co-founders, Vassilis Angelopoulos and Anthony Efstathiadis, who facilitated the thematic group “Sustainable & Green Europe.” Throughout the group’s sessions, a meaningful discussion developed around the key barriers young people face in their transition into “ambassadors of change” on sustainability issues, as well as around practical and actionable solutions to address these challenges.

Particular emphasis was placed on the need to enhance young people’s direct, reliable, and inclusive access to sustainability-related information that affects their everyday lives, as well as on the role local authorities can play in this direction. In this context, the discussion highlighted the municipality’s role in creating and strengthening opportunities for youth volunteering, such as clean-up actions, support for vulnerable social groups, and other locally driven initiatives, with the aim of fostering environmental and social awareness.

At the same time, the discussion underscored the importance of empowering young people’s self-confidence, enabling them to take initiatives, participate actively in public life, and act as agents of change within their local communities.

Get Involved’s participation in the 1st Panhellenic Youth Forum reaffirms its steadfast commitment to promoting sustainability and to strengthening the meaningful and active involvement of young people in shaping policies that concern them.
