With great success, the 8th European Central Bank (ECB) Simulation Conference for students, organized by Get Involved, was held from November 22-25, 2024, in Athens. The conference provided a unique opportunity for students and young professionals to deepen their understanding of contemporary economic challenges, fostering dialogue and experiential learning.

More Than Just a Conference

The ECB Simulation Conference stood out as one of the most dynamic events of the fall, gathering over 130 participants, selected from 400 applicants from across Greece. With its innovative character, it combined:

  • Learning through experience: Offering participants the chance to understand monetary policy and contemporary economic issues through simulation.
  • Networking: Providing opportunities to interact with representatives from institutions, markets, and the academic community.
  • Knowledge Enrichment: Featuring speeches and interactive Q&A sessions.

Distinguished Speakers and Topics

The event hosted renowned professionals, academics, and representatives from public institutions, including:

  • Kostis Hatzidakis, Minister of National Economy and Finance.
  • Gikas Hardouvelis, Chairman of the National Bank of Greece.
  • Luca Katseli, Emerita Professor, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA).
  • Ronan Sheridan, European Central Bank.

The conference covered key topics such as:

  • Monetary Policy in the Era of Digital Euro.
  • Climate Change and ESG: Transformation of the Financial System.
  • Interaction between Fiscal and Monetary Policy during Crises.

At the conclusion of the conference, workshops were held on the labor market and the challenges faced by young people, with the participation of Mr. Konstantinos Gloumis-Atsalaki, Secretary General of Demographic and Housing Policy, Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family, as well as financial literacy led by Ms. Sofia Ziaku, Head of the Greek Banking Institute and Financial Literacy, Hellenic Banking Association.
