Business Administration Dept. (UniPi): 8th ECB Simulation Conference for University Students
The 8th European Central Bank Simulation Conference for university students, by Get Involved, will be held from 22 to 25 November 2024. The annual Conference will be held in Athens. Specifically, the first day of the Conference (22.11) will be held at the Bank of Greece, the next two days (23/24.11) at the Troias Building of the Athens University of Economics and Business and the last day at the Small Stock Exchange of the National Bank (25.11).
Through the work of the Conference, participants acquire and apply their economic knowledge on actual issues of the Euro Area, embrace the way of negotiating at an intergovernmental level and understand the way the European Union operates in matters of monetary policy. At the same time, they have the opportunity to interact and exchange views with recognized academics, leading representatives of institutions and the financial system, as well as the opportunity to meet students from different scientific disciplines, expanding their network. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance and will have the opportunity to obtain a certificate of knowledge, which is supported by Linkedin and other popular platforms.
The topics that will form the agenda of this year’s conference are the following:
- Monetary policy: The interaction with fiscal policy, the risk of fragmentation and the challenges of efficiency in the permacrisis environment.
- Climate change and the transformation of the financial system in the field of ESG.
- Digital euro: The implications for the payments landscape and financial stability.
So far, the following speakers have confirmed their participation in the Training Day (first day of the Conference):
- Ghikas Hardouvelis, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Greece and the Hellenic Association of Banks
- Louka Katselis, Senior Independent Non-Executive Member of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Cyprus
- Konstantinos Drakos, Professor of Finance at the Department of Finance and Accounting, Athens University of Economics and Business
- Phoebe Kountouri, Professor at the Athens University of Economics and Business & Technical University of Denmark, President of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, President of the Global Climate Hub of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network & Director of the AE4RIA Network
- Dimitris Anastasiou, Assistant Professor of Finance, Athens University of Economics

The European Central Bank Simulation Conference has been supported, among others, by the Bank of Greece, the Hellenic Association of Banks and the AUEB Postgraduate Program in International Negotiations.
