Participation of Get Involved in a round table of a Task Force for the “European Semester”
On Friday, February 16, 2024, a closed roundtable discussion was held by the ‘European Semester’ task force of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) on the topic: ‘Reform and investment proposals and their implementation in member states, what is the view of organized civil society?‘
Get Involved had the honor of participating in the consultation as representing the youth of Greece, alongside important social partners such as the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV), the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), the General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE), and civil society organizations like Greenpeace.
The goal of the discussion was to draft an opinion on the reform and investment measures in the member states of the European Union, focusing on the 2023 specific recommendations for member states, with particular attention to Greece. Moreover, the measures of the Recovery and Resilience Facility and its communication mechanisms with the various stakeholders of Greek society were also discussed.
The discussion highlighted the potential to improve the organized national dialogue, and in terms of proposals, as representatives of civil society and particularly youth, the members of Get Involved focused on the importance of addressing the challenges facing young people in the Recovery Fund’s actions, the importance of inclusive education for youth, more effective and direct communication of decisions, and the need for increased participation of social partners in these processes.
