Huffington Post: Get Involved – The unique European Central Bank Simulation Conference is just around the corner

T

he Unique Simulation Conference of the European Central Bank, where young people from Greece and abroad take on the roles of Central Bankers and advisors, discuss topics related to the economy of the European Union and its member countries, and make decisions following the regulations of the European Central Bank, will take place for the third time from December 13 to 16, 2019, in Athens.

Regarding the Conference

The 3rd Simulation of the European Central Bank, organized by Get Involved, will be held with the kind support of the Bank of Greece, which supports Get Involved’s initiative to enhance experiential economic education in Greece. The Training Day of the Conference will take place on Friday, December 13, 2019, at the Central Headquarters of the Bank of Greece.

Before the start of the Conference, specifically on Thursday, December 12, an exclusive tour of the Bank of Greece Museum will be organized for the participants, where an exhibition will be hosted with details about the evolution and future of Electronic Payments.

On the following days, December 14, 15, and 16, the main procedures of the conference will take place at the Conference Center of the Law Library, 23 Mavromichali Street.

Conference Structure

The internal procedures of the conference will feature a new structure, with two Committees:

  • Economic Affairs Committee: Responsible for examining issues related to the formulation and implementation of monetary policy. It will also discuss matters regarding the European Central Bank’s toolkit and its role in the European financial system.
  • Constitutional Revision Committee: The Constitutional Revision Committee will discuss matters related to the expansion of the ECB’s goals and the internal operational structure, as well as the role of the ECB in mergers and acquisitions of banks.

The goal of the two committees is to ensure maximum familiarity for participants with the ECB’s operation through experiential learning. The main difference of this specific organization from other international bodies lies in the nature of the topics it handles, the management of the European financial system, and decision-making processes, offering participants a new perspective on simulations and the European Central Bank’s role.
